Prescription medication is a multi billion dollar industry a year in the USA alone. While the USA only contains 5% of the worlds population, we consume over 75% of the worlds prescription pills. In 2010 alone, enough prescription painkillers were prescribed to medicate every american adult every 4 hours for 1 month.
In the year 2016, nearly 60% of American adults are taking prescription drugs. This is pretty close to the obesity percentage at 68.8% in the United States.
